Day 27 of the 30 day meditation. Gazing meditation.

*Proceed with meditation with caution if you choose to use a candle, in other words, don't burn your house down. Also, these opinions are my own and are meant in no way to persuade one to think or believe in the things I do.  We're all individuals, so you can choose what tickles your brain and what doesn't.  :D

As we near the end of the thirty day meditation, I have found that the majority of the meditations were to my liking, and less than a handful, not so much, but I feel that this is a good thing, if you want it to be.  What better way to continue meditation, than to look back and continue to practice the ones that did resonate with you and to already know which ones did not.  This meditation was one of my favorites.

Gazing meditation is meant to help you focus and concentrate.  It is also thought to improve eyesight and is used to enhance psychic abilities, almost like scrying, the art of staring into a candle, or reflective object for purposes of divination, or fortune telling.  Today, we'll stick to concentration, since I am still working my way up the chakra ladder and don't want to jump ahead to my third eye chakra.  I am also not sure I am ready for something to be potentially staring back at me either. LOL!  Yeah,  I should probably watch less horror movies.

The meditation:  Do your usual breathing, five counts in,  breathing in positive thoughts, exhaling to the count of eight, negativity, stress, worries, anxieties.  Whichever you pick for your three, or do all of them each time.  Repeat the breathing process three times, until your mind is clear. I chose a candle for this exercise.  When ready, stare at your object without blinking, focusing on one particular part of your object.  I chose the spot where the wick and flame meet.  When you are ready to blink, close your eyes.  Can you see the flame (in my case)?  If you don't see it right away, don't worry.  Remember, this exercise is meant to improve concentration.  Repeat step one, two more times.  After the third time, when you are ready,  open your eyes slowly and think about the meditation.

My meditation summary?  Well, as I mentioned, I was not using this to open my third eye chakra, but I would be lying to you, if I told you I didn't see my flame become shapes.  I will keep those shapes to myself, though I did write them in a book, so if it was my third eye chakra saying hello, hopefully I will one day be able to validate this.  It was nothing bad, but some things you just like to keep personal, or you don't know how to articulate it without sounding like you just stepped off the train to the funny farm.

I don't think psychics or mediums are crazy. In fact I believe in them.  It is a personal opinion, but gifts are gifts. There was a time in the human existence where people would take other's for a ride, learning how to manipulate them into giving answers without realizing it, only for a 'professional' to turn around and use it on them, giving them a false belief, but the majority of these people are reality based and know what they are doing.  I have seen them in action first hand.  According to my cousin, we're seventh generation psychic on our Hawaiian side. Native Americans are spiritualists, when you stop to think about it. As I said, I am working my way up the ladder and at some point, I will be in a position where my third eye and I will shake hands and formally meet, until then, I just follow the path I am on, learning how to climb the colorful ladder of energy centers.

This all said, use this meditation with respect.  I don't think I will be touching this one again for awhile, since there were so many other mind clearing meditations for me to use, as well as confidence boosting one and centering ones.  Those are the meditations I need at this time.  Choose wisely and remember, always respect the unknown.  Again, delving into these things is not a hobby to be taken lightly, so be respectful.

Until tomorrow...let go of your past, don't worry about tomorrow and live in the here and now.

Sissy Jo....

Well, it goes without saying that the days leading up to Comic Con were anything but non-emotional.  Is that even a word?  Seriously, my mind lately. Sissy Jo, one of the three girls I call my soul sister, passed away on June 29th, her funeral was held two days before we left for Comic Con. Admittedly, this reminded me, as well, of mama being sick last year during Comic Con, so of course our 8th trip to the 'Con', was a little bluer than I think we had hoped, but we did manage to have a good time, because we know that is what Jo would have wanted.  As we all know you can't make the pain just disappear, or the sadness that comes with losing someone so important and special to your life.  As anyone could tell you, JoAnn was a force to be reckoned with, a little whirlwind of organization, love and smiles.  She loved many who were in her path and she taught us lessons of survival, never giving up and fighting the good fight. I me...

From a personal journey to...

I have blogged off and on about a personal journey I have been on for about a year or so.  It's nothing earth shattering for anyone but me.  I hate to say it, but I kind of became a cliché.  Indeed, I had become that person who needed to find themselves.  One of my favorite quotes along the way came from Tolkien, "Not all those who wander are lost".  It kind of contradicts my previous statement, well not kind of, it does, because I talk about finding myself, but truly, I knew where I was all the time.  Are you confused yet? Think of it as standing outside of your body inside a hall of mirrors.  Like a carnival there are images of you everywhere, but only one of those images are you.  So you go about seeking the solid figure and along the way you hit dead ends, walls, other mirrors with images of yourself and so on, until you finally stop, breathe and realize if you look at the mirror in front of you, there you are.  You stop trying so hard...

Day 8 of 30 days of gratitude.

Today I dedicate this blog to Sissy Jo.  Today would have been JoJobean's 47th birthday and she lived every moment the best that she could.  I am forever grateful that I spent her last night on earth with her.  It was like old times when we had a lot of Sissy sleep-over's, watching "ghosty" shows, chatting, being sisters.   That night she told me her dreams for me and what she was sure would be my reality for the future. What people didn't see was JoAnn's fight.  When it was posted on Facebook that she had passed away, so many of my own family and friend's commented that they didn't even know she was still sick.  In fact, she was on her way to do payroll when she collapsed, the afternoon she passed away.  She had set-up a makeshift office at home, because her dedication to the work and people she cared about, never stopped. JoAnn was re-diagnosed in December 2008.  She had been in remission for almost four years when breast cancer came ba...
