Day 14 of the 30 day meditation challenge. The Guardian Angel. Hmm...

I have a dilemma.  I spoke in an earlier post about not treading on people's beliefs and not trying to push mine on others, aside from my sharing my meditation experience.  Today is a bit tricky, because it is about Guardian Angels, so while I probably won't tread lightly, if you believe in angels, great. If you don't believe in Angels, use your imagination and make up something in your mind that helps you feel at ease and at peace.
For me, meditation is about connecting with God, the Universe and most importantly myself.  It's about connecting and looking deep inside my soul to weed out the things in there that serve no purpose, except to cause damage.  Though baptized and raised Catholic,  I also grew up with a father that questioned the existence of all I was taught to believe, so this helped me open my mind and question things too.  Right now I find I connect to the ethereal super powers that be much better outside in nature, or in a quiet room, then with a crowd full of other people.  If church is something you enjoy, then by all means I am not stopping you, this is just my personal choice and for now, one that works for me.
Today's meditation begins with the usual relaxation breathing.  Once your mind is calm, imagine you are sitting in a dark room.  Now, imagine a gold sparkle coming towards you.  How does it make you feel? After a few moments, the golden sparkle begins to circle around you, protecting you and keeping you safe.  It is trying to heal you and bring you peace.  Imagine the sparkle as energy, pure energy just lifting your cares away. If you believe in Angels, ask it to help heal your pain, or to help you in any of your endeavors.  If you do not believe in angels, imagine the energy is creating a clean slate for you to write down the things you would like to accomplish. When you feel calm, thank the sparkle (angel, or energy) for it's help and then slowly open your eyes.
That meditation is a variation of the one I did today, but I want people to try it, whether you believe or not, simply because it is an exercise to allow you to open up and allow help from another source. It is kind of like opening up the heart chakra.  You're allowing yourself to depend on someone, or something else and there is nothing wrong with that.  Don't you like to help people? Well, imagine that person you are trying to help is you and you don't want the much needed help being offered.  This is something along those lines.
Sometimes trusting in something we can't see is harder than we think.  I understand this. I was told I have a spirit guide and it turns out he is a well known author.  For years I thought, why me?  I know I love to write, but this person wants to help me? Or, is he being punished?  We'll go with the former.

Believing doesn't make me any less goofy than I am. It doesn't make me weird. It just means I believe what I believe in, just like you do.  This meditation helped me with my heart chakra and opening it up more, as well as slowing it down a bit to find that balance.

I would also like to apologize.  This last weekend was a bit of a busy one for me and I admit my posts have probably "read" like they were written by someone half asleep. Well, you are on the right track... *Yawn*...as for this post, like I said, I don't like to tread on beliefs, but I am determined to write my experiences for each of these meditation lessons.
Until tomorrow...try something new and if you feel so inclined, open your mind to different possibilities.

Sissy Jo....

Well, it goes without saying that the days leading up to Comic Con were anything but non-emotional.  Is that even a word?  Seriously, my mind lately. Sissy Jo, one of the three girls I call my soul sister, passed away on June 29th, her funeral was held two days before we left for Comic Con. Admittedly, this reminded me, as well, of mama being sick last year during Comic Con, so of course our 8th trip to the 'Con', was a little bluer than I think we had hoped, but we did manage to have a good time, because we know that is what Jo would have wanted.  As we all know you can't make the pain just disappear, or the sadness that comes with losing someone so important and special to your life.  As anyone could tell you, JoAnn was a force to be reckoned with, a little whirlwind of organization, love and smiles.  She loved many who were in her path and she taught us lessons of survival, never giving up and fighting the good fight. I me...

From a personal journey to...

I have blogged off and on about a personal journey I have been on for about a year or so.  It's nothing earth shattering for anyone but me.  I hate to say it, but I kind of became a cliché.  Indeed, I had become that person who needed to find themselves.  One of my favorite quotes along the way came from Tolkien, "Not all those who wander are lost".  It kind of contradicts my previous statement, well not kind of, it does, because I talk about finding myself, but truly, I knew where I was all the time.  Are you confused yet? Think of it as standing outside of your body inside a hall of mirrors.  Like a carnival there are images of you everywhere, but only one of those images are you.  So you go about seeking the solid figure and along the way you hit dead ends, walls, other mirrors with images of yourself and so on, until you finally stop, breathe and realize if you look at the mirror in front of you, there you are.  You stop trying so hard...

Day 8 of 30 days of gratitude.

Today I dedicate this blog to Sissy Jo.  Today would have been JoJobean's 47th birthday and she lived every moment the best that she could.  I am forever grateful that I spent her last night on earth with her.  It was like old times when we had a lot of Sissy sleep-over's, watching "ghosty" shows, chatting, being sisters.   That night she told me her dreams for me and what she was sure would be my reality for the future. What people didn't see was JoAnn's fight.  When it was posted on Facebook that she had passed away, so many of my own family and friend's commented that they didn't even know she was still sick.  In fact, she was on her way to do payroll when she collapsed, the afternoon she passed away.  She had set-up a makeshift office at home, because her dedication to the work and people she cared about, never stopped. JoAnn was re-diagnosed in December 2008.  She had been in remission for almost four years when breast cancer came ba...
