Day 6 of the 30 day meditation...Centering and Balance

Hello!  Here I am...Today's lesson is a good one, learning how to meditate* so you can balance and center yourself.  The other day I mentioned that the meditation for staying in the moment helped me find a way to center myself, but this meditation teaches you how to focus and ground yourself.  It is the perfect meditation for me. Even when I am sitting still my mind is going so fast, I think my body is following it. ha!

Since I am lazy when I first wake up, unless it is time to take myself out for a walk, I lie down during these meditations, but today's lesson was specific, since you are literally imagining yourself being grounded.  Sit down in a chair, feet "planted" firmly on the ground and relax.  Remember your breathing techniques, breathe in to the count of five, breathe out to the count of eight, relaxing in the process of each breath.  Repeat three times.  Once you feel relaxed, imagine your feet growing roots into the ground.  That's right, literally plant yourself.  Don't worry about the foundation of your home, or wood floors,or anything that you think might be standing in between you and mother earth.  Just imagine the roots taking root in the ground as you become one with mother nature.

Once you feel connected, imagine this beautiful glow flowing up through the roots, into your feet and then spreading throughout the body.  The meditation suggested an orange glow, but you can also think green, since green is the color of healing.  Or have both colors roam through you, allowing you to feel it healing your heart, your soul and the tension in your body.  Think rainbows.  How do you feel when you see a rainbow?  Good, sad, indifferent?  A rainbow is a promise and the colors within are within you.  Each color has a meaning, each color ties in to your Chakra's, which I will cover at the end.  When you feel relaxed (and possibly rejuvenated) from that beautiful light, slowly open your eyes and allow yourself a moment of silence, to think about the meditation and to slowly drift back into your day.

Now, please understand, this is not a cure for diseases, it is for tension relief and balancing.  If you have an ailment, please consult your doctor.  (how silly is it that we live in a day and age, where even a simple blog, has to post a disclaimer, just in case).

The Seven Chakra's and the color of the rainbows.**

Now mind you, there are many different interpretations as to what each Chakra stands for, but the color and location always remain the same.  And though they vary, the definitions are always within the same manner of belief, as to what each Chakra represents.  Youtube and Google can help you find the terms that best suit your needs and frame of mind.  These are just the ones that have helped me.

1.  Root (Red) - Located at the base of the spine.  Helps you remain grounded. Hence the exercise for today.

2. Sacral (Orange) - Located two inches below your navel.  This is the center of creativity, sensuality, fluidity.

3. Solar Plexus (Yellow) - Located just above our navel.  Self-worth.  Power is peacefulness.

4. Heart Chakra (Green) - Located, guess where. hehe.  Healing, Compassion. Acceptance.

5. Throat Chakra (Blue) - Communication. Using your voice to share your beliefs.

6. Third Eye Chakra (Indigo) - Clairvoyance, Clairaudience, Clairsentience. Insight and Depth.

7. Crown Chakra (Purple) - Interconnectedness (is that a word? It looks good!).  Being yourself and letting go of what the world might think of you.  This chakra goes way deeper than what I am saying here, but it is so worth balancing the others, to get to this point.

Several months ago when I started  this new journey in my life, I was afraid to "talk" about it with anyone outside of my immediate social circle, ie Sis Laura and my cousin Marie, but then I remembered what Sissy Jo told me, right before she passed away and right before I began this journey, "don't be afraid of what people think.  Who cares. Be you, because anyone who gets to know you, will love you."  Those words are still so poignant in my mind.

This blog is to share my thoughts and how these meditations are interpreted by me.  Everyone is different in how they view a meditation lesson, this is just the way I see it.  Also, I write these blogs to share how it affected me and to maybe reach someone that might not normally pursue this course of action.  With the exception of Sis L and Cuz M, I won't bring this up.  I am not one to preach, I just write down what I have learned and I pass it on.  What you do with it, is up to you.  You don't have to be spiritual or religious to understand the power of meditation and your chakra's.  People go through life with them wide open, and are loving caring, understanding human beings, but they have no idea what a Chakra is.  I didn't even know they existed until several years ago when someone told me my third eye was wide open.  The look I gave her was as if she had three eyes, but I listened and I learned.  Several years later, I am beginning to understand what she told me.

What you do with the information is up to you, but if it continues to permeate your mind, then perhaps you should take a peek too.

Until tomorrow...never judge someones path.  Stay centered. Stay Balanced.  Love yourself completely.

Sissy Jo....

Well, it goes without saying that the days leading up to Comic Con were anything but non-emotional.  Is that even a word?  Seriously, my mind lately. Sissy Jo, one of the three girls I call my soul sister, passed away on June 29th, her funeral was held two days before we left for Comic Con. Admittedly, this reminded me, as well, of mama being sick last year during Comic Con, so of course our 8th trip to the 'Con', was a little bluer than I think we had hoped, but we did manage to have a good time, because we know that is what Jo would have wanted.  As we all know you can't make the pain just disappear, or the sadness that comes with losing someone so important and special to your life.  As anyone could tell you, JoAnn was a force to be reckoned with, a little whirlwind of organization, love and smiles.  She loved many who were in her path and she taught us lessons of survival, never giving up and fighting the good fight. I me...

From a personal journey to...

I have blogged off and on about a personal journey I have been on for about a year or so.  It's nothing earth shattering for anyone but me.  I hate to say it, but I kind of became a cliché.  Indeed, I had become that person who needed to find themselves.  One of my favorite quotes along the way came from Tolkien, "Not all those who wander are lost".  It kind of contradicts my previous statement, well not kind of, it does, because I talk about finding myself, but truly, I knew where I was all the time.  Are you confused yet? Think of it as standing outside of your body inside a hall of mirrors.  Like a carnival there are images of you everywhere, but only one of those images are you.  So you go about seeking the solid figure and along the way you hit dead ends, walls, other mirrors with images of yourself and so on, until you finally stop, breathe and realize if you look at the mirror in front of you, there you are.  You stop trying so hard...
