Comic Con - Hall H, Saturday

I know, I know, I am well overdo, as it is already Tuesday, but at least I came back to post and didn't just leave you hanging like so many years in the past.  Saturday as expected, was epic, but not quite in the way I had hoped, at least for me.  In previous years, I had many recordable "squee" moments, but this year I truly only had about two notable ones.

The WB panel opened the morning with an even more impressive side screen that reached almost all the way to the back of Hall H.  Yes, that's right, they went REALLY big this time! It was awesome!  Of course they opened with a teeny clip of Batman v. Superman, a very teeny clip.  It begins with Batman standing at the Bat Signal in the rain, his eyes glowing, as he stares up (he kind of looked like lego batman Lol).  He turns the Bat Signal on, but his suit gives nothing away, since you can't see his eyes.  I am not sure if this Batman was CGI'd or not, because honestly, it looked a little different from the suit Zack Snyder has been posting Ben Affleck in on Twitter, or maybe it was just my eyes, who knows.  Anyway, when the camera pans up to show the Bat signal in the sky, none other than Superman is hovering in the middle of it and his eyes go red, as if he is about to laser out the Bat Signal, then poof, nothing.  Crowd goes wild, me too, because well, I love Batman and Superman, who are we kidding?  I am excited about the movie, though still not overly sold on Affleck as Batman.  What!? I'm sorry. I am sure I will change my mind, but 'The Dark Knight Triology's' Bale Batman was awesome!

Next, Zack Snyder comes out, talks a bit about how he flew in from shooting the movie and how he brought two guys with him...crowd goes more wild....and out comes Ben Affleck and Henry *swoon* Cavill, but to top it off, he also brought Gal Gadot, who will be portraying Wonder Woman in Dawn of Justice, the B v. S movie...that's right folks, WONDER FRICKIN' WOMAN!  It's about DAMN TIME!!! YAY!!!!  My favorite Heroine is finally hitting the big screen and I. Can't. Wait! YAY! :D  Of course the Nerdist, Chris Hardwick, couldn't resist a selfie, but who could with this cast....ultimate in awesome, right??  Right after the pic though, the cast and their director, without another word or a Q&A, left.  Comic Con 2015 in Hall H, a must, it will be blown away by footage of this movie, that I think will be badass.

Next was some news about Godzilla.  It was just news, so no pictures, though there was a video from Gareth Edwards thanking Fans for supporting his awesome recreation of the famed monster...but in the next installment, which has been greenlighted, we are going to see the following; Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah!!  OMG I COULD SQUEEE AGAIN! THREE TIMES!ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Of course WB doesn't disappoint, because of course they also brought Peter Jackson and company....!  'The Battle of Five Armies' made this panel for me, which is the final installment of this movie franchise of 'The Hobbit' Book.  It was the standard Q&A and of course a drool fest for some of us girls who can't get enough of Mr. Benedict Cumberbatch, oh Sherlock and Khan *swoon*, and of course the voice of Smaug and Sauron *naughty*, but also, who can resist the adorable face of Orlando Bloom? And there is just something rather nice about Luke Evans too.  You will be able to catch him soon in the Dracula origin story.  The always impressive, Cate Blanchett and Andy Serkis were on hand, and the funny Stephen Colbert, aka, The Spy Network, who was the moderator for this panel. s

I'm a little fuzzy on the order of the rest of the day, but I do know that at some point Box Trolls, Sin City and EW's Women Who Kick Ass panels came up, before Marvel's always and even more impressive panel, topped off the evening....I have more pics, but still have not downloaded my SLR pics yet, so you are stuck with my goofy Iphone pictures, so sorry.

I have wanted to see 'Box Trolls', so I was excited about this panel.  It is always fun to see the different types of animation.  Stop motion is such an amazing craft, but one really doesn't give it the props it deserves, do we?  I mean think about it, each frame a different motion, stop go, stop go, stop go, stop go....and all right into a movie.  Each character hand made and depicted by a human being into this little puppet that comes to life onscreen.  It's all so amazing!  I promise you I am not making light of this, it really is quite a fascinating thing to watch happen before your eyes.  The process, the voice overs, the way people's voices change from their own to the character's.  It's an incredible piece of talent from one spectrum to the other.

Isaac Hempstead Wright plays Eggs the boy raised by the box trolls, Elle Fanning plays the girl obsessed with learning about them and Sir Ben Kingsley plays 'Snatcher' the man set out to destroy the Box Trolls.  Tsk Tsk. It looks promising, so check it out on 9.26.14.  I had to include the first picture of Elle Fanning, because mark my words, this adorable young lady has a very promising future ahead of her. She is down to earth, funny and well spoken for a sixteen year old.

Sadly, all of my good pics from the Sin City, EW and Marvel Panels are on my big Camera, so I have nothing to share from those, but I suggest going to see the movies they are putting forth anyway.  In true Frank Miller/Robert Rodriguez style, Sin City looks nothing short of awesome and comic book cool, as viewers are brought back to Basin City for another round of fun, in 'A Dame to Die For'.

The EW Women Kick Ass panel was cool too. I thought it was a lot more extraordinary than last year as well.  The ladies brought more to the table than in years past, including Natalie Dormer, who talked about the way women are viewed and the skewed way they are viewed. I liked how they talked about empowering women of all types and how Katie Sagal spoke up about Ageism.  I am not trying to make this political or ranty in any way, I am just saying, at some point, can't we all just find a way to be less judgmental of one another?

At long last we got to the Marvel panel which opened up with Ant-Man and progressed right into a Michael Jackson song which had Robert Downey Jr Coming out, opening up a case, throwing tons of roses into the crowd, saving two white ones of course and then the Avengers on hand were introduced one by one....some came out dancing, others just waved and of course the two white roses were for the ladies, Cobie Smulders and Elizabeth Olsen, the newest cast member, who plays the Scarlett Witch, along with new cast member, Aaron Taylor-Johnson who plays her brother Quiksilver.  I'm still shocked I know this.  If I remember my information correctly from what someone told me months ago, these are also the twins of Magneto, in the Marvel Universe (yes, THAT, Magneto, though I think it is quite some time before any of them ever find out about it).  See I know some stuff...listen and learn, that should be my new motto...listen and learn.

So that is it for now.  Maybe Sunday's edition of Comic Con, I will put in the pictures missing from this post. Aren't I awful, depriving everyone? Shame on me.  Tsk Tsk. *Smirk*

Sissy Jo....

Well, it goes without saying that the days leading up to Comic Con were anything but non-emotional.  Is that even a word?  Seriously, my mind lately. Sissy Jo, one of the three girls I call my soul sister, passed away on June 29th, her funeral was held two days before we left for Comic Con. Admittedly, this reminded me, as well, of mama being sick last year during Comic Con, so of course our 8th trip to the 'Con', was a little bluer than I think we had hoped, but we did manage to have a good time, because we know that is what Jo would have wanted.  As we all know you can't make the pain just disappear, or the sadness that comes with losing someone so important and special to your life.  As anyone could tell you, JoAnn was a force to be reckoned with, a little whirlwind of organization, love and smiles.  She loved many who were in her path and she taught us lessons of survival, never giving up and fighting the good fight. I me...

From a personal journey to...

I have blogged off and on about a personal journey I have been on for about a year or so.  It's nothing earth shattering for anyone but me.  I hate to say it, but I kind of became a cliché.  Indeed, I had become that person who needed to find themselves.  One of my favorite quotes along the way came from Tolkien, "Not all those who wander are lost".  It kind of contradicts my previous statement, well not kind of, it does, because I talk about finding myself, but truly, I knew where I was all the time.  Are you confused yet? Think of it as standing outside of your body inside a hall of mirrors.  Like a carnival there are images of you everywhere, but only one of those images are you.  So you go about seeking the solid figure and along the way you hit dead ends, walls, other mirrors with images of yourself and so on, until you finally stop, breathe and realize if you look at the mirror in front of you, there you are.  You stop trying so hard...

Day 8 of 30 days of gratitude.

Today I dedicate this blog to Sissy Jo.  Today would have been JoJobean's 47th birthday and she lived every moment the best that she could.  I am forever grateful that I spent her last night on earth with her.  It was like old times when we had a lot of Sissy sleep-over's, watching "ghosty" shows, chatting, being sisters.   That night she told me her dreams for me and what she was sure would be my reality for the future. What people didn't see was JoAnn's fight.  When it was posted on Facebook that she had passed away, so many of my own family and friend's commented that they didn't even know she was still sick.  In fact, she was on her way to do payroll when she collapsed, the afternoon she passed away.  She had set-up a makeshift office at home, because her dedication to the work and people she cared about, never stopped. JoAnn was re-diagnosed in December 2008.  She had been in remission for almost four years when breast cancer came ba...
