Comic Con Day 2 - Part 2

The morning in Hall H opened with the funny filmmaking trio of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.  To make it even funnier, Chris "Nerdist" Hardwick, also the host of 'The Talking dead' was the panel moderator.  From the last of the Cornetto Trilogy to the ever present "Button lady", this panel did not disappoint where humor is concerned.  It was fun and a fabulous way to wake up.  A fan of 'Shaun of the Dead' and 'Hot Fuzz', I am looking forward to the latest and last installment of a trilogy named for ice cream, from Edgar Wright, 'The World's End'. Are you wondering what a Cornetto is? Well it is present in every one of the three movies, but if you haven't seen it, we Americans were enlightened by our British entertainers, that it is an ice cream cone, whose closest counterpart is probably a Drumstick . If that isn't satisfying enough for you, try this...  Cornetto Ice Cream . Cold sugary confections asid...

Comic Con Day 2 Part 1

DAY 2 is proving to be true to form at Hall H. 6:30 and already in line three for disabled, but you will find no complaints from me, because believe it or not, I am one of the lucky ones. Outside is a growing number of 4500+ people waiting to get in to see panels like, Sony and Screen Gems with it's main feature of 'The Amazing Spiderman 2'. Believe it or not, that panel starts at 4:05pm, give or take a few minutes. Before our webbed friend makes his appearance though, we have panels like Riddick, Kick Ass 2, Game of Thrones, say it with me, DRAGONS!!'...The World's End, with some of my favorites, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and pal Edgar Wright, but my doozy for the day, a panel I missed last year, because it was so packed in Hall H...THE WALKING DEAD.  I am squeeing in my mind and doing the trademark 'Shell Happy Dance.' I'm hoping we get close. We WILL be close. Anyway, this will be the same drill tomorrow, but I think We are going to leave eve...

Why is it so hard?

The simplest question often has the toughest answer.  Twenty years ago I was a size 5.  Twenty years later, I am lucky to even stand in the same room as a size five.  Thirteen sizes later, I am actually down twenty-five pounds from a size 20, to an 18, having ballooned to 250 pounds.  So what brings me to write this? A movie sissy put on about a writer who is overweight and trying to find her way out of her rut is really opening my eyes.  Of course an hour and a half, which translates into several months in the movie, is a lot different than facing this from the starting line. Fortunately I am already into this race. What is hard is having people tell you constantly that you're worth it, but being so lost in yourself doubt that you have trouble believing it. How does one go through life with such a fabulous support system and still feel horrible?  Simple, I am standing in my own way. I have many reasons to lose weight. Image. Self-esteem...all fair...
