W...T...Censored!

Disclaimer: Relax, THIS IS NOT A RELIGIOUS PIECE. You can skip the first paragraph if you like. Admittedly I am a lapse Catholic and you’re probably wondering what that means? Well it means that while I am not a regular church goer, I do try to stick to Lent, which represents the time Jesus went into the dessert for 40 Days and 40 nights and was tempted by the devil and so on so forth.  Well, before this becomes a religion lesson, let’s just say this, it is asked of people to give something up for Lent that is very hard to do without, as it represents the sacrifices made while in the desert, etc. etc. etc. For Lent I gave up Chocolate (already killing me), I am trying to attempt healthier habits (In hopes of creating better ones) and my bad and apparently favorite, swearing, as well as yelling at ignoramus drivers.  The latter has proven so far to be my downfall, with that said, today’s eyeball and brain reading fiesta, is about trying to find different ways that I c...

I'm baaack! WJ2-40.D12-D17

Hmmm. Well so much for keeping in touch on a daily basis. My follow through on things really should be an annual New Year's Resolution...but then why make myself predictable, eh?  Anyway, I'm pretty sure I tripped myself up with my trip to Vegas for the Knapp/Thomasson Wedding, but I'm not overly concerned, since I also did A LOT   of walking and some of it completely intentional (Ie. keeping up with a moving walkway, while I am walking on the carpet!). We left at 11:30p Saturday night, arriving around 3am or so in the morning on Sunday.  I actually liked doing a midnight drive that went somewhere other than LA, though don't get me wrong, I love the midnight drives through the City of Angels.  It's never dull and always filled with laughter, sometimes tears and good conversation.  This midnight drive though was nice, because all of the sister's were involved, as we headed to Sin City for JoAnn's brother's wedding.  Ahh, the wedding (insert lot...

The Dragonfly...WJ2-40-D10.D11

The Dragonfly has somehow become one of my favorite symbols. I never noticed until it was pointed out to me that I own several things dragonfly, but a friend of mine several years ago sent me a statue of one and she told me it symbolizes continuing life.  Well upon looking up the dragonfly, I found out it symbolizes many of things including this:  " Maturity and a Depth of character The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world symbolizes change and change in the perspective of self realization; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life." This seems to go hand in hand with what I am trying to achieve on this weight loss journey. This week has been a fail. Not an epic, or major fail, but a fail nonetheless, but this time I know things are different, because even though I am losing my grip on this I know that when I don't do so well in one aspect, I will try to make up for it in an...

Zzzzzz WJ2-40.D8-D9

Hmm...Sometimes I wish I could just sew my mouth shut. The last two days have not been good habit days, except that I am still walking every morning on the treadmill. My bad days are outnumbering the good days, but it's only Tuesday, so I hope I can regroup and recover and still make a go out of the rest of the week. Wish me luck...!

Sigh. Wj2-40.D7

I am sure I have said it before, but it goes without saying that when I hit an emotional tide, I really want to eat.  Right now everything just sounds good...everything not good for me. Fortunately my sisters went to get pick-up-stix, which in turn is better than McDonald's or Jack in the box. Sometimes I just wish I could figure myself out, perhaps then everything would make more sense, but then I guess if we knew everything we wouldn't have anything to learn, right? Right.  Some days I wish I came equipped with a handbook on myself and how to tame some of the idiotic things I do.  In due time though, every moment is a lesson, every a step, a step in the right direction. Today is Super Bowl Sunday.  Not that thrilled with any of the teams, or should I say, not that thrilled with any of the QB's in today's big game, but I am looking forward to Madonna doing the half time show. It's been too long since someone I really liked has done the half time show. ...
Alvin going Hawaiian style..!

Yuuuuup! WJ2-40.D6

Okay, so those of you who know me...well, I am a hypocrite, at least I have been in recent years gone by. I wave the "wear red flag" all in hopes that I would inspire myself, then I go right out and eat something not good for me that increases my already bad odds of a heart attack.  I have been riding the rainbow trail of good fortune and luck when it comes to my heart and I think it is fair to say that someone has been looking out for me.    A few months ago a friend delivered a very ominous message to me from a Native American (Seminole) Shaman saying that I must change my ways and start now, or I will be in serious danger.  It was clarified that he was talking about my heart and my need to lose weight. To make it more interesting, the man has never met me and Bunny has never mentioned my weight or my heart to him.  It took me a month or two to seriously wrap my head around what he had said and what my friend Bunny had relayed to me, because fear too...
Today is National Wear Red Day, which raises awareness of heart health for women.  Now don't get me wrong, Men's heart health is just as important, along with men's heart health usually being the most talked about, but most women are unaware that they could also be in danger and that is what www.goredforwomen.org brings focus to. Heart Disease  is preventable if we keep up on checkups and not "write-off" every little twinge or ache.  Okay sure, a lot of times it might be nothing, but wouldn't it be better to know what that little pain is? Wouldn't it be better to know that it's carpal tunnel making your arm numb and not a heart attack?  Sure, it seems extreme, but it's not.   My dad, for example, felt a horrible pain while visiting family in Nevada, because of this pain, he could no longer finish the game of bowling.  He then waited several days before going to the doctor, not smart, but he did go and after the test results were done, they fo...

WJ2-40...Day 4

I'm going to stray for a moment. I just wanted to say that I love the show Alcatraz and I am hoping that there will be a Comic Con panel this summer..! =D Okay, so today was not the best of days, but it wasn't completely a loss either. I had Hawaiian for dinner, but it was yummy and so I have no shame. ;) Till tomorrow.... Sent from IIvy the Iphone. :)

Weightloss Journey to 40...Day 3

Hockey games.....Hot dogs. Soda's. Pretzels. Candy of the cotton or chocolate variety. Popcorn. Etc. okay, you get the point...so my usual fare is typically a hot dog and a drink, but seeing how I am constantly at games, I had to think outside of the box in order to try to stay on track. Being hungry, I knew an apple would not suffice, so I thought outside of the traditional arena offerings and went with the hummus, pita and veggie plate. It was quite satisfactory and yummy yummy!! I recommend it to anyone...i love carrots, but let's face it, the Hummus just makes it that much more appealing. ;)
